Safety is paramount in the world of motorcycles and scooters. A rider’s safety cannot be compromised under any circumstances. But motorcycles can sometimes become very hard to control, difficult for other drivers to see, and may crash and put the rider’s life in serious jeopardy.
For some decades, motorcycle helmets have been the primary gear protecting the riders from sustaining injuries. They have come a long way in terms of their safety and designs have improved considerably. In addition to upgrading helmets, accessories makers are not short of ideas when it comes to designing new, innovative, and high technology products to protect riders. Protective wear like jackets, gloves, and boots has also gained popularity among riders and is seeing an upward trend in emerging economies.
Motorcycles and other two wheelers have become safer with better tires, brakes, stronger suspensions and better handling. Other technological advancements including disc brakes, ABS, and built-in airbags have made motorcycles safer than ever. Though they have largely helped in curbing majority of accidents, still the fatality rate has surged in the past few years. Such fatalities stem from the lack of protective clothing.
Protective clothing can substantially reduce the risk of injury in crashes, as the force of impact would not be transferred to the rider. A decade ago, riders were only aware of jackets and protective vests, and shoulder, knee, and elbow guards. But the evolution of next-generation protective safety wearables like airbag jackets has helped to lower the fatality rate for motorcyclists to a large extent.
“Dozens of motorcyclists’ lives could be saved every year if air bag jackets were made compulsory”

An airbag jacket is a protective clothing for riders, which inflates in case of a collision or an accident. It can be connected to the motorcycle using a cord or can be a cordless device.
Airbag Jacket (Wired): An airbag jacket connected to the motorcycle through wiring harness. It receives input from the sensors placed on the motorcycle itself and reacts accordingly.
Wireless Airbag Jacket: An airbag jacket equipped with on-board sensors in an electronic control unit (ECU) that can gage any kind of sudden deceleration in the riding pattern and trigger inflation after detecting a minimum thrust or force.
